[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]T[/eltdf_dropcaps]he second stage of the Guanajuato International Film Festival, which will take place in Guanajuato City, presents magnificent venues to comfortably enjoy the best of the Official Selection and the Special Screenings that GIFF offers this year. Those who regularly attend the festival can once again seek out our selection in our different GIFF stages while those attending for the first time will surely be amazed with the marvelous architecture and the ambience that’s built in each screening.
Without a doubt, the Juárez Theater is the star of our festival venues, a majestic building on Sopeña Street that dates back to the late 19th Century and will host the international tributes, the inaugural film, the galas and the best of the Official Selection. Another signature spot are the Steps of the University of Guanajuato, an iconic structure that will present, among other shows, Godzilla, King of Monsters! as well as films in loving memory of Prince and David Bowie, Purple Rain and The Man Who Fell To Earth. Within the University of Guanajuato, located on #5 Lascuráin de Retana Street, its Auditorium and the Euquerio Guerrero Room will host movies from the Official Selection and conferences.
At Mesón de San Antonio, located at ·#12 Alonso Street, is where one can find the GIFF Lounge, a special place where the visitors of GIFF can get to know the festival better, consult programming and even rest between screenings. Finally, the historical Alhóndiga de Granaditas presents the Music + Cinema program, with spectacular concerts and the premieres of the documentaries We Are X and Panoramas; while the Principal Theater will host the Master Classes, which will be provided by Master Masato Harada, Naomi Kawase and Demián Bichir, as well as our Spotlight Country Japan’s Special Screenings, as well as the rest of the Official Selection. Complementing the Guanajuato venues: Cinemex Plaza Pozuelos, and Túnel del Sol on Juárez Street, which offers Midnight Madness and Movies with Mummy.
