- Concert: Baba Zula:
Baba Zula is a musical group created in Istanbul at the end of the 20th Century. Using traditional instruments and mixing them with new technologies and an initiative to innovate, Baba Zula promises to fill the center of San Miguel Allende with a unique concert experience. With a mix of traditional sounds, belly dancers, elaborate costumes and a show that doesn’t consist only of music (in includes a visual experience), Baba Zula promises to astound its audience. Poetry, music and film come together during this one night at the Main Garden.
The concert will begin at 18:00 hours, but don’t worry about not finding a seat. We guarantee once the concert begins, you won’t stop dancing to the rhythms of Turkey.
- Book Presentation: Cuatro sexenios y un Cine Dorado (Four Presidential Terms and a Golden Age of Cinema)
Between 1941 and 1945, Mexican cinema had an unprecedented boom which is known today as the “Golden Age”. For nearly two decades, Mexican cinema was able to compete with the industries in the United States and several European nations. Developing in a post-war stage, Mexican films were well-received in their own country as well as the rest of Latin America thanks to fun, simple and relatable topics. Andrés Barradas, phD in Audiovisual Communications and Advertising from Barcelona, will give a talk on how this cinematic phenomenon launched and evolved, taking on the four presidential terms during which this Golden Age of Mexican Cinema took place.
The presentation will take place at 11:00 am at Casa del Mayorazgo de la Canal.
- Epicentro GIFF:
GIFF invites its assistants, guests and anyone who is a fan of cinema and technology to take part in this exhibition and get to know the current technological frontiers first-hand, explore innovation within virtual reality and experiment the future of film and television. Within the Epicentro GIFF exposition, those who attend will be able to look, listen to and even try several inventions and projects brought in from all over Mexico and the US.
Epicentro will be open to the public on Sunday July 19 and Monday July 20 starting at 10:00 am and will close at 5:00 pm.
