[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]G[/eltdf_dropcaps]uy Maddin is one of the most representative directors of Canada, internationally recognized for his recreational style based on the aesthetics of silent films and its transition to sound cinema. Also a screenwriter, editor and cinematographer, originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, since completing his first film The Dead Father, in 1985, Maddin became one of the filmmakers to follow from Canada.
He has made more than 30 films, including Dracula: Pages From A Virgin’s Diary (2002), The Saddest Music in the World (2003), My Winnipeg (2005), Keyhole (2011) and The Forbidden Room (2015), this one screened as part of the special showcase of contemporary fiction films of the Spotlight Country.
In the film, a woodsman mysteriously appears aboard a submarine that has been trapped deep under water for months with an unstable cargo. As the terrified crew makes its way through the corridors of the doomed vessel, they find themselves on a voyage into the origins of their darkest fears.
