Virtual Reality and immersive experiences make their way to the Guanajuato International Film Festival for the seventh edition of Epicenter, a special showing that has become an important axe for innovation and a showcase for the future of narrative filmmaking.
Those who attend can enjoy the best of Mexican and international VR cinema, as well as our special screenings through a wide selection of immersive experiences, conferences and an important link between filmmakers and Virtual Reality developers. Innovation not only entails showcasing content, but also financing and distribution, for which GIFF presents Blockchain Corner, bringing the Token System for creative industries in Mexico for the first time.
This showcase begins in San Miguel de Allende by screening Official Selection films, workshops and immersive experiences at Garage Dos Casas, where all activities will be free of charge with previous registration from 9:00 to 16:00 hrs. Access will be granted every 30 minutes to our two screening rooms, each with a capacity for 40 people
This showcase will move to Guanajuato and it will be installed at El Palacio de los Poderes, Museo del Pueblo, Plaza de la Paz and Mesón de San Antonio —where the conferences Blockhain for Creative Industries, presented by Lynette Coll on Wednesday July 25 at 16:00 hrs, and The Future of Cinema, presented by Manuel Gutiérrez Novelo on Friday July 27 at 16:30 horas, will take place.

Epicenter will also feature special screenings from the Mexican Institute of Mixed Realities, dedicated to the formation, development and professionalization of the Mexican industry in, VR/ AR; Trends Presents, the space in Ventana Sur for new technologies and their business models in current content; and Google Spotlight, artists and technologists that offer mobile experiences in 360º narratives.
Don’t miss the Garage Stories lab, open for creators of content who explore the possibilities of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence, the 5.1 Sound Workshop, with film production company Disruptiva Producciones.
