Pedro Infante. Se sufre, pero se aprende
Luces y sombras de un mito
de Francisco Javier Millán
In the year 2011, during the 14th edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival, the book Jorge Negrete, no basta ser charro was presented in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the birth of a full man, complete artist and distinguished son of Guanajuato, recognized as one of the symbols of Mexican cinema: Jorge Negrete.
2017 marks the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Pedro Infante, Idol of Guamúchil and an indisputable reference of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. Pedro Infante represents one of the founding myths of the new Mexico, a legendary actor who succeeded with iconic characters and sublime performances and transcended the screens into the collective memory of an entire nation.
Penned by the distinguished Francisco Javier Millán, Spanish writer and journalist, the book Pedro Infante. Se sufre, pero se aprende offers a revealing look at the life and works of this actor, singer and individual in whom we find crude phrases, faint expressions and critical distance to approach this immortal icon, offering a critical, uncomplacent look.
The book presentation will take place at 17:00 hrs at Casa Mayorazgo de la Canal, Centro Cultural CitiBanamex, in the presence of the author and moderated by film critic and scholar José Antonio Valdés.
