Thursday 28 Guanajuato City, Alhóndiga de Granaditas 21 hrs.
With over 30 million records sold and a record 18 sold out nights at the Tokyo Dome, X Japan represents the history of rock, heavy metal and Japanese glam. Their unique look and style inspired a cultural phenomenon in Japan called Visual Kei, a movement that extended worldwide. After a metoric rise and a decade of countless successes, some personal problems caused the band to split up in 1997. Almost 20 years later, X Japan announced that they’re coming back, exciting millions of fans that await the return of the band that conquered Japan and wishes to take on the entire world. The LAtin American premiere of We Are X, a documentary that tells the story of this group as well as their return to the stage, will include an appearance by Yoshiki and director Stephen Kijak.
After the screening of We Are X, GIFF and Guanajuato City will dress up with Yoshiki’s concert. Composer, drummer, producer and classical pianist, Yoshiki formed X Japan with his childhood friend Toshi in the late 80’s, achieving international success immediately. After X Japan split up, he was a part pop groups, composed piano concerts and a classical music album produced by acclaimed Beatles producer Sir George Martin and played by the London Philharmonic. Recently X Japan announced its return with a new album and performances in New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden and London’s Wembley Arena. Tonight Yoshiki will delight us with a show that, in the last few years, has travelled through the United States, Russia, France, Thailand and Japan.
