Some of them brought a piece of clothing or accessory that alluded to their project.
These youngsters waited in cars decorated in balloons, some of them had the names of their films on the windshields, or the name of their state. Some family members and friends encouraged tahem with words and photos.
Sarah Hoch, Executive Director of GIFF, did the welcome speech and emphasized her gratitude for the media, sponsors and people who were there for this starting line launch. Representatives from IMCINE, headed by Ana Lilia Maldonado, were proud to support this kind of initiative.
The teams immediately got to work. The first to race through the starting line were the Mexicali team from the Autonomous University of Baja California, with their short film Algo mágico sucederá; they were followed by the students of Liceo de Estudios Superiores, from Querétaro, with La última y nos vamos; the path was then cleared —with big cheering and their masks literally ons— for the students of the University of Advanced Technologies from San Luis Potosí with Máscara mística.
Next up was Mute, from Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit. The second-to-last team to cross the starting line were the students from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City with Reescribiéndo(me). Finally, after so much hard work, the last team was the one from Universidad Panamericana in MExico City with Salvando el mundo.
After months of workshops, consultations and an arduous pre-production phase, each team now has the task of bringing their stories to life in this beautiful scenery offered by the City of Guanajuato. Their knowledge, abilities, and above all, capacity for teamwork under pressure will be tested in the next few hours.
We will witness the results on Friday the 27th. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
