After the concerts of The Rabeats and RTRXN, the audience members showed off their best formal wear at the Red Carpet, which was walked by personalities such as actress Francesca Guillén, actors Rubén Kuri and Roberto Carlo and our conductors Fátima Molina and Moisés Arizmendi. There was also a runway where models showed off dresses and jewelry by Mexican designers.
The inaugural act featured the Governor of Guanajuato Miguel Márquez Márquez, the Municipal President of San Miguel de Allende, Gonzalo González, Guanajuato’s Secretary of Tourism, Fernando Olivera Rocha, as well as GIFF’s founder and executive director Sarah Hoch, entre otros.
Federal Deputy Verónica Agundis shared an anecdote of her beginnings and her experiences in the festival in its first years, when she was conducting several events of the Festival then known as “Expresión en Corto”, reiterating her commitment to the promotion of what entails the economy of our state.
For his part, Governor Miguel Márquez Márquez thanked the people of San Miguel for their hospitality and highlighted that it’s a city in which different countries and cultures can feel at home.
Georges Schoucair, president of Abbout Productions, representing the Spotlight Country, mentioned how important it is for the Lebanese to establish ties with Latin America and that cinema is the best way to get to know each culture.
For her part, Sarah Hoch reiterated that the Festival is a party for everyone in Guanajuato, thanked everyone who makes the Festival a possibility and invited us all to enjoy the Festival before the fireworks show enchanted the audience, allowing the inauguration to go out on a high note.
As soon as the event finished, the Inaugural Gala film was introduced: Mamacita, a Mexican documentary directed by José Pablo Estrada Torrescano, who sent a video from Germany to greet everyone quien desde Alemania envió un video de saludos. Important characters from the film and his immediate family were present and took the stage for a few words.
