Alhóndiga de Granaditas – 18:30 hrs
Prior to the screening of the 48-Hour Collegiate Rally shorts, one of GIFF’s flagship programs that will show the work that resulted from 48 intense hours to shoot and edit a short film, we will have the presentation of two Mexican projects that participated in musicalizing two of the short films from the above mentioned program. The groups in charge of the soundtrack of Guía básica para una muerte perfecta, Candy, and Lucas el Grande, Borchi y su Double Redoble, will shake up the Alhóndiga in the penultimate day of Music + Cinema concerts.
Candy is an independent rock band formed in 2006 and originally from Mexico City. Their first album, Stranger, came out in 2009. Subsequently, Joselo Rangel from Café Tacvba produced their second album in 2012. They are currently promoting their new album Atlas that pays tribute to existentialism, with sounds ranging from gothic pop and synth rock to post punk.
Borchi y su Doble Redoble is an essential band in the freestyle and world music scene in Mexico. Their music is known for its inventive and relevant production, which combines melodies from street carnival bands, jungle percussions and emotional textures, based on the use of samples. They closed the 2016 edition of the muTEK Festival and are currently presenting their new EP called 9551.
