Today at 18:00 hrs, join GIFF at the Red Carpet Gala before the screening of The Tale by Jennifer Fox.
Jennifer Fox has made films such as Beirut: The Last Home Movie (winner of the Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1988), An American Love Story (premiered at Sundance in 1999, winner of the Gracie Award), Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman (premiered at Sundance 2007), and My Reincarnation (nominated for an Emmy). She was also an executive producer of several award-winning films, including On the Ropes (Academy-Award nominated for Best Documentary Feature).
In The Tale, we take a trip down a story that raises deeply personal questions about nature. Can our memories betray us? Does our unconscious reframe the truth to make it bearable? Jennifer Fox, as a protagonist played by Laura Dern, faces multiple transcendent questions after her mother discovers a story she wrote when she was 13. This discovery forces her to reexamine her first sexual relationship and the stories we tell ourselves to survive.
We hope you attend and enjoy the elegance of the Red Carpet and screening of a movie that will leave a lasting impression.
