The sporadic rains that struck earlier in the day reached a truce at dusk to enjoy the closing of the concerts in San Miguel de Allende. As is customary on Sunday, the Main Garden was filled with people attracted by the Center of the Best City in the World to visit. The cool weather invited people to dance happily, rockets were shot from the Parish to celebrate a wedding and there could not be more joy from those attending.
At about five o’clock in the afternoon, Lng / Sht stood on stage to thrill the audience with their unconquered attitude and honest rhymes replete with references to popular culture. Accompanied by a turntable and the chorus of their followers, this band from Cancún released their irreverent lyrics that break up the typical rap and rearrange it into something completely original. They were followed by Juan Cirerol and his northern folk blues that has won so much applause. With his music that mixes honest lyrics, the sound of a harmonica and a wide repertoire of northern regionalisms reminiscent of the music of Los Cadets de Linares and Chalino Sánchez, the singer-songwriter surprised those present with an endearing performance.
Night fell and with it came the end of the concerts that GIFF’s Music + Cinema program prepared for San Miguel de Allende. The musical activities will continue in Guanajuato City with free concerts of Thursday and Friday, as well as the Closing Festival. So keep following us and together we can celebrate more moments of music and cinema.
