[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]E[/eltdf_dropcaps]very beginning has an ending and that is why this nineteenth edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival bids farewell ith its Closing Ceremony. Throughout the week the audience was able to see the movies that competed in the different categories of GIFF’s Official Selection and this Closing Ceremony will announce the winners of: Mexican Feature, International Feature, Documentary Feature, Fiction Short, Documentary Short, Animation Short, Experimental Short, Mexican Short and Guanajuato Short.
Other prizes that will be given include the Press Award, the Women in Film and Television Award and the Signis Mexico Award, each to a film in any category that they may wish to highlight. Winners will also be announced for the National Screenwriting Contest for Feature Film and Short Film from the previously announced finalists.
And because no celebration of cinema is complete without a screening, GIFF presents its closing film Swiss Army Man, which was the talk of Sundance and now arrives in Guanajuato highly anticipated. Directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (known as Daniels), it tells the story of Hank (Paul Dano) a man who’s lost on a deserted island and about to kill himself when he finds Manny (Daniel Radcliffe), a corpse washed up on the shore who, as it turns out, can move and talk. These two become fast friends and together they’ll find a way to get Hank home.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this edition of GIFF!
