The aim of our University Documentary Contest “Identidad y Pertenencia” (Identity and Belonging) is to help in the formation of new generations of storytellers in Guanajuato, those with the urge to share their communities’ stories and traditions.

The contest is geared towards short-subject non-fiction films that speak to young audiences, expressing the regional identity and belonging in a land that is rich in history. These are also films that reflect the young filmmakers’ anxieties, interests and expectations. GIFF, along with sponsors and friends, support these productions by offering each team a series of filmmaking workshops.

The films created by the young men and women who participate in this contest go beyond our borders, being shown internationally through their run of festivals and digital platforms.
