Each year GIFF pays tribute to the men and women that have given their lives to film.

[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]A[/eltdf_dropcaps] great distinguishing characteristic of GIFF are the tributes that are paid to personalities that transcend the screen due to their iconic filmography, laudable career and the legacy they leave in the history of national and world cinema. As such, the number of filmmakers that have been paid tribute at the Guanajuato International Film Festival already makes up an extensive family, and through a Master Class, they share the highlights of their careers.

Names such as Tim Burton, Oliver Stone, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Darren Aronofsky, Danny Boyle, Lucrecia Martel, Julie Taymor, Eliseo Subiela, Park Chan-Wook, Spike Lee, Spike Jonze, Diana Bracho, Patricia Reyes Spíndola, María Rojo, Deepa Mehta, Felipe Cazals, Ignacio López Tarso, Pedro Armendáriz Jr, Gaspar Noé, Peter Greenaway, Anton Corbjin and Roger Corman are only a few of the personalities that have walked the Red Carpet at GIFF under the same spirit of carrying on the message of More Cinema Please.
