COLLEGIATE RALLY 48 HRS OF PRODUCTION

The Collegiate Rally is a film competition that seeks to develop new talents and boost the enthusiasm of young filmmakers to create innovative and fresh projects within the film industry. The six finalist teams undertake the execution of a high-quality short film in a timed period of 48 hours.

Complying with the demands that each short film requires, from its pre-production stage to its final delivery, the teams have been trained in 28 specialization workshops by industry professionals who lend their time and effort to guide these young filmmakers. The result is a six-minute short film that for the first time is set in the city of Irapuato.

IDENTITY AND BELONGING DOCUMENTARY CONTEST

For the twelfth consecutive year, the Guanajuato International Film Festival presents the Identity and Belonging Documentary Contest, a project carried out with the Support of Guanajuato Government’s Grant for the Promotion of the Cinematographic and Audiovisual Industry.

The value of the contest lies in the fact that it strengthens Guanajuato’s youth regional identity and their belonging to a place filled with traditions and history, rescuing at the same time the stories that nurture the culture of our locality. During the process, those selected make a documentary that reflects their concerns, interests and expectations, promoting practices that help build a culture that raises awareness and expands forms of perception and creation.

After analyzing each project, four teams were selected, which began a six-month consulting and training process with various specialization workshops on documentary filmmaking taught by film industry experts. The ultimate goal: to produce a ten-minute ten minutes, which will be screened for the first time in the the twenty-fifth edition of GIFF.

Through this contest, the collective talent offered by Guanajuato’s youth, its influence and importance in local communities, is recognized; artists from the region are promoted and the importance of education in the cultural industry is transmitted. In this way, the Guanajuato International Film Festival consolidates a valuable opportunity for young university students to expose, through documentary short films, traditions, characters and contexts which help us to better understand our history, our identity.
