Alhóndiga de Granaditas will be the location of the Music + Films section of GIFF tonight, when Lebanese composer and singer Aziza will play at 22:30 hrs at the Alhóndiga de Granaditas with a sound that combines the classic rules of Arabic Tarab pop music, placing it in a new style she calls Tarapop.
Born of the necessity to re-visit the vast repertory of classic Arab songs, Aziza feels naturally attracted to adapting music to sounds of her contemporary environment. This fusion leads to her own musical version of current Beirut: a palate of eclectic, electric and history-pushing styles.
Later she will pass the baton to MUVA, a cinematic, experimental, personal, scenic and enveloping music project, which generates moments of oppression and liberation, revealed through visual art and performance. In MUVA elements that don’t usually interact come together. In their style, you can find iconic elements of classical music interacting with Pre-Hispanic percussions and Japanese flutes interacting with thunderous rock guitars.
Don’t miss the music. Allow yourself to be taken by this multi-sensorial experience that promises a magical night in the historical scene at the state capital.
