San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato City will fill with cinema at the 21st edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival, a celebration of art and culture that opens its doors this Friday, July 20th, at 20:30 hrs with the Red Carpet at the San Miguel de Allende Main Garden.
The Mexican documentary feature film Mamacita will be screened at the inaugural gala. This film by José Pablo Estrada tells the story of the director’s grandmother, a bizarre former beauty queen whose efforts for helping others couldn’t heal the Deep wounds hidden within her own family.
Like every year, the festival presents a nurtured Official Selection of Mexican, international and Guanajuato-based short and feature-length films media such as documentary, experimental cinema, animation and fiction.
The cinematic celebration opens its doors to fans, general audience and industry personalities that accompany us. This edition will also present “El Fin de la Crítica” for the first time. This platform brings together different generations of film critics through a cycle of workshops and conferences.
