Progressive rock band URSS Bajo el Árbol will be responsible for opening the GIFF 2016 concerts with its range of psychedelic sounds and deep harmonies. Since the release of their first EP Líneas Mentales, which was sponsored by Adrian Terrazas from The Mars Volta, their career has been growing, accumulating shows all over the country and promoting the development of the independent music scene.
With their frenetic groove and playful improvisation sessions, the band Troker, originally from Guadalajara, energetically close the inaugural concert. In a few short years the band has become a leader in the jazz and national rock scenes, which has lead them to share the stage with renowned bands at international festivals. Their experimental sound, nurtured with elements of funk, progressive rock and jazz, has enabled them to make two tours around Europe and they have played twice at the legendary Glastonbury Festival.
