[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]W[/eltdf_dropcaps]ith an emotional environment that predicted the party that would be the Inaugural Gala and the words of director Jorge Michel Grau, Salvador Jaime Arroyo, General Director of Municipal Tourism, Andrés Martínez, Director of Amtec México and Sarah Hoch, Director of GIFF, the steps to the Juárez Theater witnessed the launch of the 48-Hour Collegiate Rally, in which six teams elected from 186 scripts from universities all over the country compete to make a short film in 48 hours. The teams that participate in the challenge are: la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit with ¿Cómo fue tu día hoy?; UEA Centro Universitario de Guadalajara with De a 20; CUEC- UNAM with Lo que se viene a la mente;Liceo de Estudios Superiores de Queretaro with La Familia Terrier; Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila with Seis and Universidad de Guanajuato Campus Salamanca with Bienvenido Hermano.
The Collegiate Rally is one of GIFF’s signature programs that seeks to launch new talents and build enthusiasm for young filmmakers to create fresh and innovative projects within the industry. Meeting the demands that each short film require, from its pre-production phase all the way to its final deliverty, the teams, who have been coached in 22 workshops by industry professionals and committed filmmakers, began this exciting race which will result in six short films lasting six minutes each that will be screened on Friday the 29th at 21:00 hrs at the Alhóndiga de Granaditas.
The kick-off included important celebrities in the film industry and those who will star in these short films: Cecilia Gessa and Pascacio López will be Eva and Ned in ¿Cómo fue tu día hoy?; Fernando Sarfati will be a politician and Fermín Martínez will play Don José un De a 20; Alejandro Guerrero will be Tulio and Martha Claudia Moreno her grandmother in Lo que se viene a la mente; Hernán del Riego, Nora Huerta, Vico Escorcia and Fabrizio Santini will playLa Familia Terrier; Hugo Catalán, María José Magán and Diana Lein will be Héctor, Victoria and Salma respectively in Seis and finally, Fernando Álvarez Reseil, Kristyan Ferrer and Pedro Hernández will star in Bienvenido Hermano.
