The concerns of the youth of the time had important manifestations in cities such as Paris, PRague, Berlin and New York. Mexico was no exception and the 1968 Movement is of utmost relevance to the history of Mexico in the 20th Century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the Special Showings that commemorate the Anniversary of 1968, GIFF presents a selection of short films by renowned Mexican filmmaker \u00d3scar Men\u00e9ndez. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dos de Octubre: Aqu\u00ed M\u00e9xico<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historia de un Documento: Los Presos Pol\u00edticos del 68 en la C\u00e1rcel de Lecumberri<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00danete Pueblo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00d3scar Men\u00e9ndez is a documentary filmmaker and photographer. He studied at the San Carlos National School of Plastic Arts and the Prague Film School. He has had a long and distinguished career as a film and television director and producer, as well as researcher and festival organizer. A highlight of his career was working as creative sub-director of Canal 13, Chief of Short Film Production at Estudios Churubusco and the Archivo Etnogr\u00e1fico del Instituto Nacional Indigenista (INI) foundation with filmmaker Gonzalo Mart\u00ednez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This screening will feature an appearance by the filmmaker.
