[vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”20178,20179,20180,20181,20182,20183,20184,20185,20186,20187,20188,20189,20190,20191,20192″ img_size=”176×150″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Yesterday, the Guanajuato International Film Festival presented for the ninth year in a row the Identity and Belonging Documentary Competition . This event provides an essential space for the young talent of Guanajuato \u00a0to tell the stories that only they can tell. This is reflected in the momentum that the six teams have contributed to the event and the enthusiasm with which each one of them were received.<\/span><\/p>\n

The presentation, by actor Rodrigo Gim\u00e9nez, was filled with happy surprises. The entrance to the Auditorium of the University of Guanajuato was lived intensely at the Steps where the teams and their families joined to walk the Red Carpet among cheers and applause. Those who attended could enjoy the hubbub they brought with the filmmakers and even a rap session performed by the stars of <\/span>Bastardos Desterrados<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The protocol section included University and government authorities, who expressed their support for the development of film in this state and reaffirmed their commitment with the youth. Octavio Aguilar Mata, Sub Secretary of Promotional Tourism from the Guanajuato Secretary of Tourism, on behalf of Governor Miguel M\u00e1rquez M\u00e1rquez; Carlos Torres Ram\u00edrez, Secretary of the Town Hall of Guanajuato; \u00a0Ana Lila Altamirano, representing IMCINE; Ricardo Garc\u00eda Mu\u00f1oz, Director of Radio, Televisi\u00f3n and Hypermedia at the University of Guanajuato, and of course, Sarah Hoch, director and founder of GIFF who also conducted the event, were all present. <\/span><\/p>\n

The six short films were:<\/span><\/p>\n

– <\/span>Nostalgia<\/span><\/i> (Universidad De La Salle Baj\u00edo, directed by Marcelo Rosales Brice\u00f1o)<\/span><\/p>\n

– <\/span>Buscando el green<\/span><\/i> (Instituto Irapuato, directed by Jos\u00e9 Manuel Campos Ventura)<\/span><\/p>\n

– <\/span>Bastardos Desterrados<\/span><\/i> (Universidad Iberoamericana Le\u00f3n, directed by Mario Gonz\u00e1lez Jim\u00e9nez)<\/span><\/p>\n

–<\/span>Judas en el rinc\u00f3n <\/span><\/i>(Universidad de Celaya, directed by Luis Ernesto P\u00e9rez Medina)<\/span><\/p>\n

–<\/span>Anita <\/span><\/i>(Universidad de Estudios Profesionales de Ciencias y Artes, directed by Lucero Adriana Hern\u00e1ndez Camargo)<\/span><\/p>\n

–<\/span>Macehua<\/span><\/i> (Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica del Suroeste de Guanajuato, directed by Alexis Gabriel V\u00e1zquez Garc\u00eda)<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of each project, the directors took the stage with their stars. There were very emotional moments, like when Anita, the lead of the documentary of the same name, received a donation of hearing aids; or the noise made when the dancers of \u00a0Valtierrilla, the focus of the documentary <\/span>Macehua<\/span><\/i>. The stars of <\/span>Bastardos Desterrados<\/span><\/i>, who had already showed their talent at the Red Carpet, surprised us again by playing one of their original songs as a thank you.<\/span><\/p>\n

The participating directors were moved, some even to tears. Watching the fruit of their labor on the screen flooded the place with a celebratory mood for the work they did in the last few months.<\/span><\/p>\n

These stories, constructed by people from Guanajuato and its environment and showing the high level of quality cinema is capable of and they no doubt strengthen the regional identity and the roots of land filled with valuable people and tradition that make it bigger every day. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
