Today, don\u2019t miss at Centro Cultural \u201cEl Nigromante\u201d, at 14:00 hrs, the film <\/span>Where Do We Go Now?<\/span><\/i>, a special screening at the Guanajuato International Film Festival to pay tribute to Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki, recently awarded with the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. <\/span><\/p>\n

Premiering in 2011, the film is a drama that takes on Lebanon\u2019s socio political reality through a fable about a small town where the women do everything in their power to make sure their husbands don\u2019t find out certain news in order to avoid a sectarian war. This film premiered at the Un Certain Regard section of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and was awarded in Toronto, San Sebasti\u00e1n and Tribeca, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nadine Labaki\u2019s film is an idiosyncratic look in the concerns caused by certain aspects of the world around us \u2014femininity, battles against sectarianism and social injustice. This deep exploration that usually looks into habitable territories beyond the ruins and the violence would be the fertile ground where her enormous capacity to tell stories would flourish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exercising a penetrating review of the concerns that shake her own reality, the Lebanese woman who is also an actress has won her place in contemporary world cinema, which allows her to build bridges between the Arab world and the West in spite of their cultural and socio political difficulties. <\/span><\/p>\n

Nadine Labaki is one of the main representatives of the Lebanese wave, reminding us with her cinema that humor, tenderness, compassion and intelligence unite us above our religious, political, ethnic and gender divisions that prevent us from recognizing ourselves in other people.
