El Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) se ha destacado a lo largo de su historia por acercar a los mejores cineastas internacionales al p\u00fablico mexicano y la vig\u00e9sima edici\u00f3n del festival no ser\u00e1 la excepci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
En esta ocasi\u00f3n especial, los homenajes internacionales estar\u00e1n dedicados al reconocido director australiano Peter Weir, quien se gan\u00f3 el reconocimiento del p\u00fablico con pel\u00edculas como La Sociedad de los Poetas Muertos (1989) y The Truman Show (1998), donde tuvo oportunidad de dirigir a Robin Williams y Jim Carrey, respectivamente.<\/p>\n
Weir es conocido por formar parte de \u201cla nueva ola australiana\u201d, y entre su filmograf\u00eda tambi\u00e9n encontramos los t\u00edtulos Master and Commander (2003) y Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), \u00e9sta \u00faltima es considerada un parteaguas en la cinematograf\u00eda australiana.<\/p>\n
El legendario cr\u00edtico norteamericano Roger Ebert la calific\u00f3 como una \u201cpel\u00edcula de misterio inquietante y de enterrada histeria sexual\u201d, adem\u00e1s agreg\u00f3: \u201cel resultado es una pel\u00edcula que crea un lugar espec\u00edfico en tu mente; libre de trama, y sin ninguna explicaci\u00f3n final, existe como una experiencia\u201d.<\/p>\n
El GIFF proyectar\u00e1 La \u00daltima Ola (1977), Testigo en Peligro (1985), Master and Commander y Picnic at Hanging Rock como parte del homenaje al legendario cineasta australiano, \u00e9sta \u00faltima contar\u00e1 con una funci\u00f3n de gala en el Teatro Ju\u00e1rez.<\/p>\n
