[eltdf_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]T[\/eltdf_dropcaps]his morning the projects of the Identity and Belonging University Documentary Competition will be screened at 11:00 hrs at the Auditorium of the University of Guanajuato. The competition\u2019s main objective is to promote a sense of identity with and connection to Guanajuato\u2014a region filled with tradition\u2014among the younger generation. The contestants are asked to produce a documentary that illustrates their interests, concerns and expectations with respect to their surroundings, their family life and their day-to-day lives, which are ultimately stories of their own.<\/p>\n
A call for entries was launched on September 30, 2015. Each project was evaluated and six finalists were selected and embarked on a series of workshops over the course of six months. The teams compiting in this edition are: Blood of my Land<\/em> by UTSOE Valle de Santiago; Konnichiwa<\/em> by Ibero Le\u00f3n; In your shoes<\/em> by La Salle Baj\u00edo; Among Giants<\/em> by the Instituto Sanmiguelense; Interweaved Destinies<\/em> by UDL Morole\u00f3n; and Hand Truck<\/em> by Universidad de Celaya.<\/p>\n Each team received $20,000 pesos to finance their projects. The special workshops were imparted by industry experts and cover different aspects of filmmaking including: theme, story, narrative structure, crowdfunding, production, cinematography, sound production, editing and post-production.
