Rosa Mar\u00eda Bianchi, primera actriz y amiga de Eric, hizo la introducci\u00f3n a una breve semblanza que el Festival Internacional de Cine Guanajuato cre\u00f3 tomando escenas de sus filmes m\u00e1s famosos y entrevistas con familiares y amigos. Terminado el video, Eric del Castillo subi\u00f3 al escenario donde ofreci\u00f3 unas palabras a los asistentes. Con humildad habl\u00f3 acerca de sus inicios como actor y agradeci\u00f3 los 60 a\u00f1os de su vida que ha dedicado a la vocaci\u00f3n que afortunadamente encontr\u00f3 dentro del cine. Asimismo extendi\u00f3 unas palabras al embajador de Turqu\u00eda: \u201cQuiero ir Turqu\u00eda para poder decir tantas cosas bonitas como las que usted me ha dicho esta noche.\u201d Para cerrar su discurso agradeci\u00f3 a su esposa y familia y sobre todo, aconsej\u00f3 a los j\u00f3venes que deseen seguir dicha l\u00ednea de trabajo, en que jam\u00e1s pierdan la fe ni el \u00edmpetu. Como parte del homenaje, Eric del Castillo recibi\u00f3 de Sarah Hoch la Cruz de Plata que cada a\u00f1o es entregada a nuestros homenajeados, as\u00ed como un obsequio a nombre del Gobernador de Guanajuato Miguel M\u00e1rquez M\u00e1rquez.
