His film <\/span>Captive<\/span><\/i> competed in Berlinale 2012, while <\/span>Tirador <\/span><\/i>won the Caligari Film Award in 2007. <\/span>Thy Womb<\/span><\/i>, on the other hand, won the La Navicella Venezia Cinema Award in the Venice Film Festival in 2012, while <\/span>Lola <\/span><\/i>was nominated for the Golden Lion in 2009. But his most notable achievement is when he won the elusive Best Director award in Cannes Film Festival for the film <\/span>Kinatay <\/span><\/i>in 2009. The year before, his film, <\/span>Serbis<\/span><\/i> (<\/span>Service<\/span><\/i>) was nominated for the Palme d\u2019 Or.<\/span><\/p>\n
