It apparently takes 2 directors to find such a unique kid and make him and the story work so well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Short Fiction Video<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Instead of Abracadabra<\/em> by Patrik Eklund<br \/>\nIt is hard to make people laugh, but that is what Patrik Eklund accomplishes in &#8221; Instead of Abracadabra&#8221; set in serious Bergman land. Why watch long fiction when you in 22 minutes can get the &#8220;whole&#8221; story of the impossible magician, get lots of laughs and even get a bit scared. Good camerawork, good direction, good editing and good acting. See it and you will forever say CHIMAY, the new word for Abracadabra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Short Documentary<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>The Herd<\/em> by Ken Wardrop<br \/>\nThe film maker had taken a simple but elegant and ultimately evocative approach to the question \u201cHow do we treat a stranger in our midst?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Honorable Mention Short Documentary<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Interview with the Earth<\/em> by Nicol\u00e1s Pereda<br \/>\nThe jury would like to give an honorable mention to this sensitive, haunting study of a child\u2019s death. The film maker\u2019s strong telling style resonates with the audience long after leaving theater.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Long Documentary<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Re-encounters: 2501 Migrantes<\/em> by Yolanda Cruz<br \/>\nA fresh look at a subject often explored in documentary. The film maker, through the craft of storytelling, has blended seamlessly the massive art project and the stories of the workers depicted in the piece. She takes a complex story and makes it very human and universal- adding compelling layers to the conversation on migration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Jury Mention Long Documentary<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>The One Man Village<\/em> by Simon El Habre<br \/>\nThe jury wanted to acknowledge the poignant visual style of this intimate portrait of a One Man Village.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Short Animation<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Muto<\/em> by Blu<br \/>\nFor the spirit and energy of its execution, its optimistic appreciation of the street and how the animated graffiti interacts with the World, the jury is honored to present the Best Short Animation Award to Muto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special award for wit in a Short Animation<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Western Spaguetti<\/em> by Adam Pesapane.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Experimental Short<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Danse Macabre<\/em> by Pedro Pires<br \/>\nThe jury was unanimously impressed by the ability, beauty and security of Danse Macabre. We disagreed about its content: one of the jurors saw in it a trip after death, another one as an anesthetization of death and the last one as an institutionalization of death. For its brilliant execution and ability to create such passionate debates, we are honored to offer the Best Experimental Short award to Danse Macabre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Award for Conceptual Ambition in an Experimental Short Film<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Rebeca<\/em> by Gonzalo H.
