\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n ARTISTIC RESIDENCY\u00a0GUANAJUATO-BERLIN 24\/7<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Guanajuato International Film Festival, together with the Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and the Goethe-Institut Mexico, are proud to host this bilateral initiative that since 2014 has allowed German and Mexican filmmakers to work for two months in each other\u2019s countries in order to push the development of their film projects and find funds to complete their productions.<\/p>\n In 2017 it was Mexican director Joaqu\u00edn del Paso\u2019s turn to be selected to travel to Germany in order to finish the script for his upcoming feature. Notably, the Mexican creator\u2019s latest film, \u201cMaquinaria Panamericana\u201d, premiered at the Berlinale Forum last year, as well as earning the prize for Best Feature Length Fiction at last year\u2019s GIFF.<\/p>\n On the German side, filmmaker Jan Zabell came to San Miguel de Allende with his project \u201cZur\u00fack in Den Westen\u201d (Back to the West), searching for new perspectives and hoping to immerse himself in what he has called \u201cone of the most creative places for filmmaking.\u201d<\/p>\n The first films to have been developed by this joint residency will soon be released worldwide: \u201cBrimstone & Glory\u201d by Viktor Jakovl\u00e1ski, our first German \u2018resident\u2019 who, over his stay in Mexico, shot a documentary in the city of Tultepec. The film will be premiered at the renowned True\/False festival in Columbia, Missouri. Likewise, \u201cBruma\u201d by Mexican director Max Zunino and filmed during his stay in Berlin, will be released commercially in Mexico in early March 2018.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n *ROTTERDAM LAB <\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Guanajuato International Film Festival, together with the Rotterdam International Film Festival, each year select a number of Mexican filmmakers who took part in GIFF\u2019s\u00a0 International Pitching Market to join the prestigious Rotterdam Lab Workshop. Here, filmmakers receive guidance on international coproduction, festivals and industry markets, proffessional networking development and more to help their projects reach their full potential success.<\/p>\n This year\u2019s picks included producers Indira Cato (Ll\u00e9vate mis amores) and Juan Sarquis (Truenos de San Juan.) Juan is currently producing three feature-length films, including two Works of fiction: \u201cEl matrimonio de Pepe S\u00e1nchez Campo\u201d and \u201cJulia Privada\u201d, and the non-fiction \u201cS\u00edsifos\u201d. Indira herself is currently in production for \u201c#Mickey\u201d, a non-fiction feature film by director Betzab\u00e9 Garc\u00eda.
